Tie Up Loose Ends
Double knot all kids' shoelaces so they don't trip and fall! If your child is too young to tie their shoes, consider well-fitting shoes with elastic or Velcro.
Don't Get Caught
If you see a sharp edge or "S" hook, always take a double look. Open "S" hooks, sharp edges, or protruding bolt ends can snag and scratch.
Safe on the Surface
Safer playground surfaces include mulch, pea gravel and shredded rubber. They should extend 6 feet around equipment and be 9-12 inches deep.
Say "Nay" to Horseplay
Even though it may seem harmless, pushing and horseplay on the playground can be very dangerous.
Press PLAY for Playground Safety
Kids love the playground, but that doesn't mean it's safe for them. Click to watch this video from the National Program for Playground Safety to learn how to keep your child safe from head to toe and download the PDF, "PLAY it Safe on the Playground."
